Job Summary

Geisinger is proud to offer a per diem Patient Companion position with market-leading pay rates, up to $3 shift differentials for evening, night, and weekend shifts, and up to $40,000 in financial support to become an RN.

Job Duties

• Provides a safe environment, companionship, and supportive care for patients requiring constant observation as directed by a nurse or physician.
• Maintains a safe environment for patients requiring 1:1 supervision.
• Maintains constant observation of the patient and accompanies them if they leave the unit for approved reasons.
• Maintains a safe, private, and comfortable therapeutic environment.
• Redirects impulsive and harmful behaviors.
• Remains in clear sight of the patient unless instructed otherwise by nursing staff.
• Calls for assistance if unable to redirect a patient or if there's a potential for self-injury.
• Participates in shift report, communicating pertinent information to the RN.
• Accompanies patients to clinical tests, procedures, or off-unit appointments.
• Engages in conversation to keep patients focused and assists with meals and bed making as needed.
• Activates bed and/or chair alarms and assists staff with walking patients.
