**Job Description**

The Patient Companion observes assigned patients to maintain a safe and therapeutic environment. The role involves providing continuous bedside observation to prevent falls and injuries, monitoring verbal and behavioral cues related to self-harm or harm to others, and ensuring patient safety during hospitalization. The Patient Companion works under the supervision of an RN and the indirect supervision of the Director of Critical Care and Psychiatric Services. Confidential patient information is accessed as part of the role.

**Required Certifications:** CPR, CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) certification prior to employment, and biannual Code Violet training.

**Preferred Certifications:** CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant).

**Preferred Education:** High School Diploma or GED.

**Preferred Experience:** 1-2 years in healthcare.
