Cleveland Clinic Health System in Medina, OH, seeks a Patient Companion to join the Float Pool at Medina Hospital. You will provide comfort and companionship to one to two patients, assist with activities of daily living, and help ensure patient safety while supporting the nursing team.

This 148-bed community hospital has a long history of patient-centered care. You will work varied shifts, 48 hours per 6-week period, and collaborate with caregivers to deliver world-class service and learning

Qualificações

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Preferred BLS certification through AHA or Red Cross within 3 months of hire.
• Familiarity with basic patient care activities and safety protocols.

Responsabilidades

• Provide direct and indirect patient care for one to two patients, including rooming, vitals, and observation.
• Ensure patient safety by preventing removal of catheters or medical equipment.
• Accompany and assist patients during transport, tests, transfers, and ambulation.
• Document care activities and hand off to the supervising nurse or physician.
• Collaborate with the health care team to support unit operations.

In the Float Pool, you will work with diverse populations of patients innumerousunits, departments and/or locations while learning from many of our best caregivers.As a Patient Companion on the team, you willassistwith constant observation of one to two patients providing comfort and companionship while delivering direct and indirect care. Your primary focus will be assuring basic patient safety through tasks including documentation,assistingwith activities of daily living,assistingwith mobility and transfers, applyingrestraintsandassistingin taking vital signs.At Cleveland Clinic, you will have the opportunity to enhance your nursing skills, explore educationalresourcesand build a rewarding career.

APRNcaregiver in this position worksvarying shifts from 7:00AM – 7:30PMor7:00PM – 7:30AM.Working48 hoursper 6-week period isrequired.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Assistwith direct and indirect patient care for one to two patients, such as rooming, vital signs,weightand pulse oximetry. If assigned to a closed unit, you willobservethree to four patients.
• Assure patient safety by ensuring that catheters,tubesor other medical equipment have not been removed or disconnected.
• Accompany and assist patients at all times, includingduringtransport, tests,transfersandambulation.
• Identifyand report changes in patient status to an RN or physician.
• Initiate CPR and other emergency measures.
• Acknowledge patient concerns/needs and notifyappropriate caregiversforassistancewhen necessary.
• Complete all documentation and provide hand-off communication to caregivers responsible for the patient.
• Collaborate with members of the health care team to promote the delivery of patient care and the overall functioning of the unit.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• HighSchoolDiploma or GED

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• HeartsaverLevel of Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)orAmerican RedCross uponor within three months of hire
• Knowledge and understanding of basic patient care activities, such as basic hygiene, skincareand vital signs

Physical Requirements:

• Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye-hand coordination; involves extensive standing and walking.
• Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
• Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

Personal Protective Equipment:

• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
