Job summary

Ashtabula Regional Medical Center seeks a Patient Companion/Transporter to provide 24-hour observation for patient safety. You will support care, monitor safety, and report concerns to the nurse on duty. The role includes helping patients in and out of bed and communicating clearly with the healthcare team.

Attention to detail, strong observation and communication skills are essential. This on-site position requires teamwork and the ability to respond quickly in potentially changing situations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Strong attention to detail and situational awareness.
• Ability to observe patients visually and listen effectively; assist in and out of bed when appropriate.
• Willing to be oriented to provide basic patient care duties.
• Excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide continuous observation of assigned patients to promote safety and injury prevention.
• Maintain safety awareness and report changes related to patient safety.
• Report safety concerns or defective equipment.
• Support a safe work environment for patients, staff, and customers.
• Collect and report data about the patient/family as directed by a Registered Nurse.
• Remain alert and promptly call for assistance as needed.
• Transfer observation as needed to other team members when appropriate.

Education, Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

Required Licensure Or Certification

• Must obtain BLS during orientation
• Annual N-95 mask fit test
