Job summary

Emory Healthcare is seeking a Medical Assistant to perform patient care and routine administrative duties in an outpatient setting. You will take vital signs, assist with medications per policy, collect specimens, draw blood, and help maintain examination rooms.

You will also handle patient check-in/out, scheduling, imaging uploads, and administrative tasks. Current BLS is required; CMA/RMA/CCMA/NCMA certification is preferred or required, with orientation and annual competency completion

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Basic computer skills required.
• One year work experience preferred.
• Current AHA BLS certification is required for hire and must be maintained.
• Current CMA/RMA/CCMA/NCMA certification required or preferred.
• Preferred CMA or RMA.
• Must complete all orientation and training requirements and annual skills competency.

Responsibilities

• Perform patient care and observation duties under licensed provider, RN, or LPN.
• Take vital signs and administer a limited profile of medications per Emory Clinic policy.
• Perform simple diagnostic tests and collect specimens including drawing blood.
• Sterilize and clean equipment; maintain examination rooms in outpatient setting.
• Assist in emergency situations as directed; maintain a safe environment.
• Handle patient check-in/out, chart prep, scheduling, referrals, precertifications, and related admin tasks.
• Process imaging and records uploads, Zendesk requests, bump list, and charge entry pool messages.
• Contribute to patient and family-centered care and participate in research projects when applicable.
