Job summary

Indiana University Health in Lafayette, IN is hiring a Patient Care Assistant to join our full‑time team. You will provide direct patient care under the direction of a Clinical Nurse and support the patient care team with clerical tasks in a busy hallway.

This role requires a high school diploma or GED, CPR certification, basic medical terminology knowledge and computer skills. The schedule includes three 12‑hour shifts weekly with weekend/holiday rotation.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• CPR certification required or to be completed per policy.
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with unit clerical tasks.
• Experience in acute patient care or completion of IU Health PCA education program.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care under the supervision of a Clinical Nurse.
• Perform unit clerical duties and support the patient care team.
• Maintain a clean, orderly environment for patients and staff.
• Assist with scheduling tests and procedures as needed.
• Maintain patient records and sign patients in and out of the unit.
• Assist with ordering, receiving and delivering equipment and supplies.
• Provide continuous observation for safety including suicide prevention when required.
