Job summary

Education requires a high school diploma or GED; no prior experience is required. Venipuncture and EKGs are preferred. A BLS certification must be current or obtained during orientation.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or GED.
• No prior work-related experience required; venipuncture and obtaining EKGs are preferred.
• Certification in Basic Life Saving (BLS) is required and must be kept current; if not, obtained during orientation.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct support to nursing staff and follows director’s and licensed staff’s instructions.
• Alerts medical staff to changes in patient condition.
• Operates medical equipment safely (BP machines, cardiac monitors, glucometers, blanket warmers, tele consult carts).
• Collects and transports patient specimens for lab analysis.
• Assists patients with basic care needs (feeding, positioning, hygiene, oral care).
• Obtains EKG readings and communicates with providers.
• Maintains safety and infection control standards and participates in performance improvement activities.
