Job summary

Ellenville Regional Hospital is seeking a Per Diem Nursing Assistant to provide direct patient care and handle clerical tasks on a unit under the supervision of a licensed nurse. The role supports patient safety, quality reporting and interdisciplinary communication within a busy hospital setting.

Requirements include NYS Registry as CNA/EMT/Paramedic with at least one year hospital experience preferred, High School diploma or equivalent, and BLS certification.

Qualifications

• NYS Registry as a Certified Nursing Assistant, Emergency Medical Technician or Paramedic, with a minimum experience of one year in a hospital setting preferred
• High School or equivalent. Enrollment in Associates in Nursing Program or other medical related field preferred
• BLS certification required
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with care givers, other employees and the general public.
• Ability to read, interpret and follow detailed verbal, written and illustrated instructions.
• Effectively operate various office equipment including copier, fax machine, computer and phone system.
• Ability to be flexible, organized, and function well under stressful situations
• Must possess effective communication skills

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care and clerical functions within an assigned unit.
• Follows ERH’s Fall Prevention Policy and completes hourly safety rounding.
• Completes documentation in EMR and transfer forms; notifies appropriate staff.
• Obtains lab specimens and communicates results to providers.
• Transports patients, specimens and supplies.
• Maintains unit equipment and supplies at established par levels.
