Job summary

Rochester Regional Health is hiring a Patient Care Technician in Clifton Springs at the Emergency Services department. This full-time role supports nursing staff with direct patient care, charting, and unit tasks to keep the department running smoothly.

The position requires compassionate communication, ability to take vital signs, assist with mobility, hygiene, and transfer of patients, and willingness to work a 36-hour work week with day, evening, and night shifts including every other weekend

Qualifications

• Minimum age 18.
• Preferred: CNA certification, Nursing Fundamentals or medical assistant experience.
• Associates degree preferred.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care & indirect activities to facilitate unit functioning.
• Participates as a member of the care delivery team.
• Provide safe and competent care for patients with relationship to nutritional, skin integrity, elimination & hygiene needs including bathing, grooming and changing bed linens.
• Take patient vital signs including temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure and pain level.
• Demonstrate excellent communication skills, compassion and any other kind of support needed for the patient and patient family members.
• Demonstrates exceptional communication with the members of the care delivery team modeling teamwork for other team members.
• Assist with ambulation, feeding, transferring or lifting of patients.
• Assist with the admission, discharge and transfer of patients.
• May also perform clerical duties including transcription & maintenance of patient charts.
• Assists patient with mobility, such as sitting, standing, and walking.
• (Cath lab only) - Stocks rooms, may handle meds, sharps and syringes on the OR field.

SUMMARY:

Provides direct or indirect patient care in accordance with treatment plans as determined/delegated by a licensed nurse or RN. Assists with tasks necessary for the general management and organization of the patient care unit, being flexible meeting patient and/or unit needs.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum age requirement: 18

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Completion of one of the following: Nursing Fundamentals, Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification, experience as a medical assistant/technician in a health related facility or participation in a Patient Care Technician training program.
• Associates degree
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting. The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components.
