Job summary

Tampa General Hospital is seeking a part-time Patient Care Technician for the Transplant 2 9F1 unit at the Main Campus in Tampa. The role supports direct and indirect patient care under licensed nursing staff, with emphasis on hygiene, nutrition, safety, and comfort, in a high-touch transplant setting.

Qualified candidates may hold a high school diploma or GED with Florida CNA certification or be enrolled in an RN program with Fundamentals in Nursing completed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; Florida CNA certification preferred when not enrolled in RN program.
• Must be currently enrolled in an RN program and have completed Fundamentals in Nursing.

Responsibilities

• Provide indirect and direct patient care including nutrition, hygiene, safety and comfort measures for patients and family members under licensed nursing supervision.
• Perform duties in alignment with Tampa General Hospital's mission, vision, and values; interact with patients, families, and staff.

Description

The Patient Care Technician provides a variety of indirect and direct care, including provision for patient's dependency needs such as nutrition, hygiene, safety, and physical and psychological comfort measures, to patient and significant others, under the supervision of licensed nursing staff. Responsible for performing job duties in accordance with mission, vision, and values.

Work is primarily performed in patient settings. Extensive interaction with patients, staff, physicians, family members and visitors. Lifting, bending, stooping and exposure to blood borne pathogens. This position has been evaluated as a Level 1 in accordance with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) definition of occupational exposure to blood borne pathogens.

Qualifications

High school diploma or G.E.D and Florida CNA certification ORmust be currently enrolled in an R.N. program and have completed Fundamentals in Nursing.
