Job summary

Tampa General Hospital is seeking a Patient Care Technician- Transplant 2 to join our care team at the main campus in Tampa. You will work under licensed nursing staff to provide both direct and indirect patient care in a transplant setting.

The role involves helping patients with nutrition, hygiene, safety, and comfort, and interacting with families and other clinicians. This is a full-time, on-site position with a rotating seven-day schedule.

Qualifications

• The candidate must have a high school diploma or GED and Florida CNA certification, or be enrolled in an RN program with Fundamentals in Nursing completed.
• Candidates pursuing nursing education should be currently enrolled in an RN program with relevant coursework.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct and indirect patient care while supporting comfort and safety.
• Assist with nutrition, personal hygiene, and activities of daily living under licensed nursing supervision.
• Interact with patients, families, and healthcare staff to ensure compassionate care.
• Follow mission, vision, and values in all duties and maintain patient privacy.

Description

The Patient Care Technician provides a variety of indirect and direct care, including provision for patient's dependency needs such as nutrition, hygiene, safety, and physical and psychological comfort measures, to patient and significant others, under the supervision of licensed nursing staff. Responsible for performing job duties in accordance with mission, vision, and values.

Work is primarily performed in patient settings. Extensive interaction with patients, staff, physicians, family members and visitors. Lifting, bending, stooping and exposure to blood borne pathogens. This position has been evaluated as a Level 1 in accordance with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) definition of occupational exposure to blood borne pathogens.

Qualifications

High school diploma or G.E.D and Florida CNA certification ORmust be currently enrolled in an R.N. program and have completed Fundamentals in Nursing.
