The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is seeking a Patient Care Technician for the P9 Surgical Urology unit. The role supports care assigned by a registered nurse on a fast-paced 32-bed unit with postoperative and orthopedic procedures, requiring CNA certification and minimal prior experience.

Shifts include two 12s and two 8s with rotating weekends and holidays, evening/night options available. Competitive salary range with excellent benefits and paid time off.

Job description

The Patient Care Technician on the P9 Surgical Urology unit at MD Anderson Cancer Center provides patient care services as assigned by a registered nurse and directly impacts patient comfort and outcome of care.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma, a CNA certification and hands-on patient care experience. The candidate must be available to work a combination of two 12 and two 8-hour shifts, Monday-Friday, with rotating weekends and holidays. Evening/Night shift, (7:00pm — 7:00am, 11:00pm- 7:00am, 3:00pm — 11:00pm).

The Surgical Urology/Orthopedic unit is a 32-bed unit for an adult patient population. This fast-paced environment has rapid turnover for surgical procedures, which include postoperative prostatectomy, cystectomy, penectomy, nephrectomy, and orthopedic surgeries. Unique postoperative care of hemipelvectomy, flap monitoring, and testicular cancer surgeries are also managed on this unit. The team uses an interdisciplinary collaborative approach to patient care. Integrated in our nursing practice are tools used to maximize the skills of team members to achieve optimal outcome and improved healthcare quality.

Hourly breakdown of salary range:
Minimum $18.27 – Midpoint $22.84 – Maximum $27.40
