Job summary

The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is seeking a Patient Care Technician for the G18 Stem Cell Transplantation & Cellular Therapy unit. You will provide patient care under a registered nurse, supporting daily living activities and vital signs for a 48-bed unit involved in immunotherapy and CARTOX research protocols.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma and either one year of acute care experience or CNA certification, with a pre-employment skills test required.

• One year of recent acute care experience as a Nursing Assistant or CNA certification preferred.
• Must pass pre-employment skills test as required.

• Update and retrieve patient information; maintain a safe, clean environment.

Job description

The Patient Care Technician position on the G18 Stem Cell Transplantation & Cellular Therapy unit at MD Anderson Cancer Center provides patient care services as assigned by a registered nurse, and directly impacts patient comfort and outcome of care.

Ideal candidate must have a high school diploma and either one year of recent experience in an acute care setting as a Nursing Assistant or a CNA certification.

The schedule will consist of 3-12/hour shifts working from 7pm-7am or 7am-7pm with rotating weekend sand holidays.

The Inpatient G18 Stem Cell Transplant & Cellular Therapy unit is a 48 bed unit and is one of our designated immunotherapy floors, administering research protocols involving immunotherapy and CARTOX therapy to patients, including Phase 1 clinical trials. As such, our staff receive additional training to develop the skills needed to provide exceptional care to patients receiving this progressive therapy.
