Sentara is currently hiring a Patient Care Technician to work at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital on the Surgery Unit 4 East.
Hours/Shift:
Full-time, Rotating Shifts (Need availability to work 7am to 7pm and 7pm to 7am)
Department/Position Overview:
Join a unit known for its great teamwork! This general med/surg unit has great engagement within the nursing team and the patient population is mostly surgical patients.
As a Patient Care Technician with Sentara, you will have the opportunity to learn many new skills, including taking vitals, blood draws, and daily care. The primary duties of this position include supporting the admission/discharge process, changing, bathing, and ambulating patients, drawing blood, foley catheter care, and meeting patient needs while working under the direct supervision of a nurse. You will find that teamwork is exceptional, with everyone working together to provide the best care for our patients.
Patient Care Technicians are unlicensed staff members who are accountable to, and work under the direct supervision of a professional nurse to implement delegated aspects of nursing care. Provide patient care, support the admissions and discharge process, and comply with patient safety practices under the direction of the professional nurse. Observe patients' physical, mental, and emotional conditions and report any change to the nurse.

Certification/Licensure
Experience
One year of prior health care experience preferred.
