Job summary

UnityPoint Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician to support RN-driven care on the unit. The PCT delivers hands-on patient care, assists with procedures, and documents patient status with compassion and accuracy.

Shift 630a-6p and 24 hours per week, with potential on-call requirements. You will assist with activities of daily living, mobility, nutrition, hydration, elimination, and safety while collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to promote quality outcomes and a positive patient

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years old or older.
• Certified Nursing Assistant certification required.
• Department of Labor Level III (Medium) work.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care and treatments under supervision of a Registered Nurse, including activities of daily living, mobility, specimen collection and respiratory support as directed by the RN.
• Demonstrates ability to lift, move, position and transport patients.
• Meets the department work schedule and shows initiative to improve quality of care, patient and employee safety, and customer service.

Under the direction of a licensed professional, the Patient Care Technician delivers hands-on patient care and comfort, assists with clinical procedures and technical tasks, and accurately observes, reports, and documents patient status. The role supports safe, efficient unit operations by focusing on personal care, mobility, nutrition, hydration, elimination, and prevention of complications, while preparing patients and environments for procedures. Collaborating with the interdisciplinary team, the PCT provides compassionate, patient- and family-centered support across diverse care settings to promote quality outcomes and a positive experience.
