Job summary

Danbury Hospital is seeking a Patient Care Technician to assist with patient care activities under supervision. Responsibilities include performing basic nursing tasks, assisting with comfort, safety, and data entry, and ensuring timely execution of orders on the General Medicine 1 unit.

The role requires a high school diploma, with real-world hospital experience preferred. CNA certification is a plus, and BLS/CPR is required within 90 days of start.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Experience in a hospital environment is preferred but not required.
• Active CNA certification is preferred.
• BLS/CPR required within 90 days of start date or upon completion of orientation.
• Zero to six months of job-related experience.

Responsibilities

• Provides physical care to assigned patients and performs technical skills such as point of care (POC) testing.
• Implements nursing orders promptly and adequately with an understanding of the purpose of each.
• Follows policy and procedure for assigned patient care activities, including unit specific equipment.
• Provides patient comfort by positioning, extra bathing, straightening linens, and making personal articles reachable.
• Provides for patient safety through preventative measures and hourly rounding.
• Enters all data into the computer system and communicates observations to the nurse in charge.
