UPMC Williamsport is hiring a Full-Time Night shift Patient Care Technician, Senior on 5 East
Unit Details: 5 East is an Acute Care/Trauma Stepdown Medical/Surgical Unit.
Position Schedule: 36 hours per week, primarily from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., with every other weekend and holiday shifts.

Responsibilities:
- Suggest and support departmental changes; view problems as challenges; contribute to department projects and quality initiatives.
- Receive feedback constructively; identify learning needs; seek assistance for planning and prioritization; participate in self-review, projects, and committees.
- Adhere to policies and procedures related to patient care and hospital information; comply with safety policies; document appropriately; perform timely and productive work; transport cardiac monitored patients; perform procedures like Foley catheter insertion/removal, IV insertion/removal, and dressings; complete clerical tasks.
- Perform core nursing assistant responsibilities (blood glucose, vital signs, I&O, specimen collection, Foley care); complete Basic Arrhythmia class; perform tasks like phlebotomy, EKG, dressing changes, catheter removal, point of care testing, bladder scans, IV insertion/removal, femoral hemostasis, etc.; provide patient care and assist with activities of daily living; support therapies; communicate patient status to RN; instruct patients and families; apply/remove restraints as needed.
- Report equipment malfunctions; communicate effectively with departments; establish respectful relationships; participate in unit activities like responding to call lights, passing meals, transporting patients.
- Communicate clearly with healthcare team; understand cultural diversity, workplace safety; develop productive relationships; demonstrate accountability, enthusiasm, motivation, and commitment.
- Perform and maintain competency in core nursing assistant duties including ADLs, point of care testing, vital signs, telemetry, simple dressings, restraints, bladder scans, specimen collections, intra-hospital transportation, and advanced skills such as basic arrhythmia, wound care, 12-lead EKGs, and NG tube management, based on departmental needs.
- Identify and communicate learning needs; request assistance for planning and prioritization; support safety and quality initiatives; document appropriately; transport monitored patients; perform clerical functions; transport medications when necessary.
