Patient Care Technician - Senior - 4 East Acute Care - Full-Time Days with Rotation

UPMC Williamsport has an opening for a Full-Time Patient Care Technician in our 4 East Acute Care Adult Med/Surg Unit.

4 East is an 11 Bed Adult Med Surg unit with primary hours of 7a-7p and 7p-7a. This position requires every other weekend and holiday.

Responsibilities:
  1. Support department changes and view problems as challenges. Contribute to department projects and quality initiatives.
  2. Receive feedback constructively, identify learning needs, and participate in self-review, projects, and committees.
  3. Adhere to policies and procedures, document properly, transport patients, and perform clinical tasks including IV insertions, Foley catheterizations, and clerical duties.
  4. Perform nursing assistant responsibilities and additional skills such as EKGs, phlebotomy, dressings, and restraints as trained.
  5. Communicate effectively with the healthcare team, support safety, and develop professional relationships.
  6. Perform ADLs, monitor patients, and assist with therapies under RN supervision.
  7. Maintain equipment, report malfunctions, and contribute to unit activities.
  8. Perform system-wide competencies and other duties as assigned.
  9. Achieve and maintain competency in advanced skills such as arrhythmia interpretation, wound care, 12-lead EKGs, and NG tube management.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Either 2 years healthcare experience, or 1 year experience plus clinical rotation in PT/OT/PA program, or a bachelor's in health sciences.
  • Successful completion of patient care technician senior class and basic information system training.
  • CPR certification within 30 days of hire; ACLS preferred.
  • Additional certifications and clearances as specified.
Licensure and Certifications:
  • CPR (BLS or equivalent) required within 30 days of hire.
  • Act 34 clearance required.
