Job summary

Sentara RMH Medical Center in Harrisonburg, VA, seeks a Patient Care Technician to support admissions and discharges, assist with daily patient care, and perform routine nursing tasks under nurse supervision. The ideal candidate has a high school diploma and relevant certifications, with prior direct care experience preferred.

Responsibilities include taking vitals, drawing blood, assisting with ambulation and hygiene, and ensuring patient comfort throughout the shift (Third Night).

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• CNA, NCMA, NCPCT, NCMA, or related certifications preferred.
• Previous direct care or patient-facing experience is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Support admission and discharge processes.
• Assist with bathing, changing, and ambulating patients.
• Draw blood and provide basic nursing care under supervision.
• Perform Foley catheter care and respond to patient needs.

Overview

As a Patient Care Technician with Sentara Health, you will have the opportunity to learn many new skills. From taking vitals to blood draws and daily care. The primary duties of this position include supporting the admission/discharge process, changing, bathing ambulating patients, drawing blood, foley catheter care, meeting patient needs while working under the direct supervision of a nurse. You will find that teamwork is exceptional, with everyone working together to provide the best care for our patients.

Education

High School diploma or equivalent

Certification/Licensure

• Must have one or more of the following: Graduate of Sentara Care Partner Certification Program
• Successful completion of the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
• National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA)
• National Patient Care Technician (NCPCT)
• Completion of US Navy Hospital Corps School
• Emergency Services to include EMR, EMS, EMT, AEMT and Paramedic
• Current student enrolled in a clinical program having completed at least one semester of a (RN, LPN, RT or PT) or current work experience within last three years as a PCT or Nursing Assistant.

Experience

• Previous direct care experience preferred.
