Job summary

Sentara Health Plans in Harrisonburg, VA is seeking a Patient Care Technician to support admission/discharge and provide direct patient care on the Third Shift. You will take vitals, assist with bathing, ambulation, and basic medical tasks under nurse supervision.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Certification options include CNA/NCMA/NCPCT or related programs; current students in clinical programs may qualify.
• Previous direct care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support admission/discharge processes and daily patient care.
• Take vitals, bathe, change, and ambulate patients under nurse supervision.
• Perform phlebotomy/blood draws as needed and assist with catheter care.
• Meet patient needs and ensure comfort and safety during night shift.

Overview

As a Patient Care Technician with Sentara Health, you will have the opportunity to learn many new skills. From taking vitals to blood draws and daily care.

The primary duties of this position include supporting the admission/discharge process, changing, bathing ambulating patients, drawing blood, foley catheter care, meeting patient needs while working under the direct supervision of a nurse.

Education

High School diploma or equivalent (Required)

Certification/Licensure

Must have one or more of the following: Graduate of Sentara Care Partner Certification Program Successful completion of the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) National Patient Care Technician (NCPCT) Completion of US Navy Hospital Corps School Emergency Services to include EMR, EMS, EMT, AEMT and Paramedic Current student enrolled in a clinical program having completed at least one semester of a (RN, LPN, RT or PT) or current work experience within last three years as a PCT or Nursing Assistant.
