Job Summary and Qualifications

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) provides high-quality, patient-centered care by performing delegated basic nursing functions and activities of daily living. Under RN supervision, the PCT assists in patient care, maintains a safe environment, and adheres to hospital policies and state nursing rules.

Expected responsibilities include:

  • Performing individualized patient-focused care and technical tasks under RN delegation.
  • Assisting with patient care in collaboration with the care team.
  • Maintaining and applying patient safety principles.
  • Ensuring decisions and actions are ethical and appropriate.
  • Participating in operational and patient care improvements.
  • Establishing respectful communication with all disciplines.
  • Recognizing when to escalate patient concerns.

Qualifications required:

  • Current BLS certification through American Heart Association or Red Cross.
  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Completion of CNA training program.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Multi-tasking and prioritization skills.
  • At least one year of nurse assistant experience in an acute care setting.
