Job summary

Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Kaufman is seeking a Patient Care Tech for the Telemetry Department on a PRN night schedule (12 hours/week, 7:00pm–7:00am, mostly Fridays and Saturdays).

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, CPR/BCLS, CPI training, and either PCT experience or valid related training. Nursing students with fundamentals completed may qualify, and EMT/Military medical training may be considered upon hire.

Qualifications

  • H.S. Diploma or Equivalent required or higher.
  • 1 year of hospital PCT experience preferred.
  • PCT Training Program TX CNA, NHA, NAHP, NCCT or THR approved program. Not required to maintain certification after hire.
  • BCLS required prior to independent patient care and maintained quarterly.
  • CPI training maintained annually; 90 days.

  • Provides assistance to patient according to plan of care.
  • Documents accurately and appropriately.
  • Anticipates patient/family needs and responds; rounds as appropriate.
  • Uses Professional Practice Model to collaborate with patients and families.
  • Maintains and enhances patient care skills.

Patient Care Tech – Telemetry Department

Work location: Texas Health Kaufman - 850 Ed Hall Dr, Kaufman, TX 75142
Work hours: PRN- Nights. Will be covering night-shift, 12 hours per week 7:00pm - 7:00am, mostly Fridays and Saturdays.

Telemetry Department highlights:
  • 23 bed Med-Surg/Telemetry unit

Here’s What You Need
  • H.S. Diploma or Equivalent is required
  • 1 Year of hospital PCT experience is strongly preferred
  • PCT Training Program TX CNA, NHA, NAHP, NCCT, accredited community college program or a THR approved program. Not required to maintain certification when applicable after hire. Upon Hire is required Or
  • EMT - Emergency Medical Technician Military experience with medical training equivalent (Equivalent to EMT-B) Upon Hire is required Or
  • Other Nursing student who has completed fundamentals or foreign nurse degree program Upon Hire is required Or
  • Other 1 year of applicable experience in lieu of an active and approved certification. Upon Hire is required And
  • BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly is required And
  • CPI - Crisis Prevention Intervention Training Maintained Annually 90 Days is required
  • Possesses organizational skills to function in a fast paced work environment, positive interpersonal skills, and good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Nursing Students who do not complete course of study in nursing but having completed their Fundamentals Training and EMTs who do not formally retain their EMT status may continue in role if they have consistently demonstrated skills in their PCT position.
