Job summary

Texas Health Kaufman is seeking a Patient Care Tech to join the Telemetry Department on a PRN night shift, covering 7:00pm–7:00am and about 12 hours per week. This 23-bed Med-Surg/Telemetry unit emphasizes self-scheduling and career growth.

Ideal candidates hold a high school diploma, current PCT-related training, BCLS and CPI certifications, and nursing or EMT background. You will support patient care, document, and collaborate with the care team in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma or Equivalent is required.
• 1 Year of hospital PCT experience is strongly preferred.
• PCT Training Program TX CNA, NHA, NAHP, NCCT, accredited THR program required upon hire.
• EMT-B or equivalent training required upon hire.
• Nursing student who completed fundamentals or foreign nurse degree program upon hire.
• BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly.
• CPI - Crisis Prevention Intervention Training maintained annually.
• Possesses organizational and communication skills suitable for fast-paced environments.

• Documents accurately and appropriately.
• Anticipates patient/family and visitor needs and takes action to meet those needs and rounds as appropriate.
• Uses Professional Practice Model philosophy to work in partnership with patients, families, physicians, peers and all other disciplines.

Work hours: PRN- Nights. Will be covering night-shift, 12 hours per week 7:00pm - 7:00am, mostly Fridays and Saturdays.

Here’s What You Need

• H.S. Diploma or Equivalent is required
• 1 Year of hospital PCT experience is strongly preferred
• PCT Training Program TX CNA, NHA, NAHP, NCCT, accredited community college program or a THR approved program. Not required to maintain certification when applicable after hire. Upon Hire is required Or
• EMT - Emergency Medical Technician Military experience with medical training equivalent (Equivalent to EMT-B) Upon Hire is required Or
• Other Nursing student who has completed fundamentals or foreign nurse degree program Upon Hire is required Or
• Other 1 year of applicable experience in lieu of an active and approved certification. Upon Hire is required And
• BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly is required And
• CPI - Crisis Prevention Intervention Training Maintained Annually 90 Days is required
• Possesses organizational skills to function in a fast paced work environment, positive interpersonal skills, and good verbal and written communication skills.
• Nursing Students who do not complete course of study in nursing but having completed their Fundamentals Training and EMTs who do not formally retain their EMT status may continue in role if they have consistently demonstrated skills in their PCT position.
