Job Description

Job Summary: The Patient Care Technician (PCT) serves in a versatile role, capable of performing as a Patient Care Assistant (PCA), Telemetry Technician (TT), and Unit Secretary (US). Demonstrates flexibility by accepting changing assignments and duties, including float support across departments. Provides direct and indirect, age-specific patient care under RN supervision. Utilizes interpersonal skills to ensure excellent customer service and safe patient care. Contributes to a caring, cooperative work environment among a diverse staff and patient population. Performs additional duties as needed.

Education and Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent required. Successful completion of a basic arrhythmia and recognition course, an approved CNA or MA program, or Nursing fundamentals. At least six months experience as a PCT, TT, or US preferred.

Knowledge and Skills: Demonstrates fundamental patient care competencies and knowledge of scope of practice. Proficient in reading, writing, speaking English (Spanish preferred), using computers, troubleshooting equipment, performing non-licensed activities, following instructions, communicating effectively, working calmly under pressure, collaborating, using judgment, multitasking, organizing, problem-solving, and paying attention to detail. Able to distinguish colors and smells as needed, and see adequately for reading and documentation.

Licensures and Certifications: BLS certification from the American Heart Association required. CNA certification preferred.
