**Patient Care Tech (PCT)**

_Texas Health is looking for a highly skilled PCT. Is that you?_

**Work location:** Texas Health Fort Worth - 1301 Pennsylvania Ave, Fort Worth, TX 76104

**Department:** Telemetry

**Work hours:** 24 hours, Part-Time, Nights

  • Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth is an 815-bed, Magnet-designated regional referral center serving Tarrant County and surrounding communities since 1930. It offers services including cardiovascular care, high-risk obstetrics, gynecology, orthopedics and sports medicine, neonatal intensive care, and trauma/emergency medicine. The hospital features a 75,000 sq ft Emergency Services Center, one of the largest in the region, with over 4,000 employees, 200 volunteers, and nearly 1,000 physicians. It has received national recognition for its oncology program and was named “Best Place to Have a Baby” in Tarrant County. The hospital is certified as a Comprehensive Stroke Center and a Primary Heart Attack Center by the Joint Commission.

**Here’s What You Need:**

  • H.S. Diploma or Equivalent **_Required_**.
  • Must comply with CLIA regulations regarding foreign education equivalency **_Required_**.
  • PCT Training Program (TX CNA, NHA, NAHP, NCCT, accredited community college program or THR approved program). Certification not required to be maintained after hire, but must be obtained upon hire **_Required_**.
  • EMT - Emergency Medical Technician (Military experience with medical training equivalent to EMT-B). Must be obtained upon hire **_Required_**.
  • Other Nursing students who have completed fundamentals or foreign nurse degree programs. Must be obtained upon hire **_Required_**.
  • One year of applicable experience in lieu of active certification. Must be obtained upon hire **_Required_**.
  • BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support, to be obtained prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly **_Required_**.
  • CPI - Crisis Prevention Intervention Training, maintained annually within 90 days **_Required_**.

· Organizational skills, positive interpersonal skills, and good communication skills are essential.

· Nursing students who haven't completed nursing coursework but have completed Fundamentals Training, and EMTs not retaining formal EMT status but demonstrating skills, may continue in the role.

**What You Will Do:**

  • Assist patients according to care plans.
  • Collect patient data, identify and report significant findings.
  • Assist with admission, transfer, and discharge procedures.
  • Support patient activities of daily living, considering patient and family preferences.
  • Perform technical procedures safely and proficiently.
  • Take actions to reduce or eliminate patient risks.
  • Enter orders into systems when applicable.
  • Accurately document care and findings.
  • Collaborate with nurses to adapt care to patient needs and cultural/religious considerations.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment.
  • Anticipate and meet patient, family, and visitor needs.
  • Use Professional Practice Model philosophy to work collaboratively.
  • Be adaptable to schedule and workload changes.
  • Assist with orientation of new team members.
  • Communicate effectively with all stakeholders.
  • Organize workload and collaborate with nursing staff.
  • Maintain and improve patient care skills.
  • Seek assistance when performing unfamiliar tasks.
  • Serve as a patient advocate.
  • Comply with policies and communicate ethically and legally.
  • Participate in process improvement activities.
  • Adhere to National Patient Safety Goals.
