ThedaCare Regional Medical Center - Appleton is seeking a PRN Night Nurse Aide to support surgical unit needs. Working 5:30 pm - 6:00 am, every 3rd weekend, 0.2 FTE, 8 weekly hours, at Appleton, WI.

This role provides bedside care, vital signs, mobility assistance, and basic procedures like ECGs and phlebotomy, in a compassionate, patient-centered team environment.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED preferred.
  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Previous healthcare experience preferred.
  • American Heart Association HealthCare Provider Life Support (BLS)

Responsibilities

  • Delegated patient care activities per unit protocols.
  • Monitor vital signs, height, and weight as needed.
  • Provide compassionate care and answer patients' questions.
  • Identify and escalate changes in patient status.
  • Collect clinical data and report to care team.
  • Assist with hygiene, eating, and mobility.
  • Obtain and report patient intake and output.
  • Perform ECGs as directed.
  • Perform phlebotomy and specimen collection.
  • Provide age-appropriate, culturally sensitive care.
  • Maintain professional relationships with patients and staff.

Summary : Our 24 bed inpatient unit at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center-Appleton Surgical Unit is a dynamic and collaborative environment specializing in the care of surgical patients, including those undergoing endocrine, urological, abdominal, general, vascular and orthopedic. As a regional medical center, we work closely with a variety of surgical groups and our dedicated hospitalist team to ensure seamless, high-quality care. Job Description:

SCHEDULE: PRN, not benefit eligible Nights (5:30p-6:00am) Every 3rd weekend rotation Holiday rotation

Location: ThedaCare Regional Medical Center - Appleton - Appleton,Wisconsin

Overtime Exempt: No

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • Performs delegated patient care activities using evidence-based practice and specific competencies for the patient population served.
  • Checks patients’ vital signs, height, and weight, as needed, based on patient type.
  • Provides compassionate care and listens to patients’ concerns and guides them by answering any questions or concerns.
  • Identifies and escalates changes in patient status or patient risks to prevent crisis.
  • Collects clinical data and information on patients and reports to care team.
  • Repositions, transfers, ambulates and transports patients.
  • Assists patients with basic needs (such as hygiene, eating, using the restroom, and dressing).
  • Obtains and reports patient intake and output.
  • Performs electrocardiograms (ECGs) as directed.
  • Performs phlebotomy and specimen collection.
  • Provides care that is age appropriate, culturally specific, and developmentally appropriate in an environment that promotes patient safety.
  • Demonstrates professional and therapeutic relationships with patients, families, team members, and providers.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School diploma or GED preferred
  • Must be 18 years of age required expect for Peabody Manor, The Heritage or Juliette Manor
  • Previous healthcare experience preferred
  • American Heart Association HealthCare Provider Life Support (BLS)
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Ability to move freely (standing, stooping, walking, bending, pushing, and pulling) and lift up to a maximum of fifty (50) pounds without assistance
  • Job classification is exposed to blood borne pathogens (blood or bodily fluids) while performing job duties
  • Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination to perform patient care procedures
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Frequent exposure to sharp objects and instruments
  • Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock
  • Occasional high noise level in work environment
  • Standing and/or walking for extended periods of time
  • Transporting, transferring, positioning patients and/or equipment from one location to another; little likelihood for injury if proper body mechanics and procedures are followed
  • Possible exposure to communicable diseases, hazardous materials, and pharmacological agents
  • Occasional contact with aggressive and or combative patients
  • Position requires compliance with department specific competencies.
