Job summary

AdventHealth in Rome, GA is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) for the Neuro ICU. The role provides patient care under RN supervision, responds to clinical emergencies, and contributes to safety and cleanliness in a high-acuity unit.

Requirements include High School Diploma, BLS, and CNA (or equivalent) certification. One year of PCT experience preferred. Day shift, full-time, with benefits from day one.

Responsibilities

• The PCT Neuro ICU performs treatments according to policy and procedure, providing patient care appropriate to age, mobility, acuity, and culture.
• Assists in delivering patient care as a team member under the direction of a registered nurse.
• Documents and reports all procedures in accordance with department policy.
• Communicates effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
• Maintains a clean and safe environment for patients and staff.
• Participates in performance improvement activities and supports quality standards.

Job Description:

• The Patient Care Technician PCT Neuro ICU performs treatments according to policy and procedure, providing patient care appropriate to age, mobility, acuity, and culture.
• Functions appropriately in clinical emergencies.
• Participates in practice changes resulting from performance improvement activities and supports quality standards and initiatives.
• Follows prescribed isolation guidelines, demonstrates appropriate use of protective equipment, performs handwashing according to policy, and enforces safety regulations.
• Exhibits a desire to learn and upgrades skills continuously.
• Communicates effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
• Maintains a clean and safe environment for patients and staff.
• Assists in the delivery of patient care as a team member under the direction of a registered nurse.
• Documents and reports all procedures in accordance with department policy.
• Participates in obtaining a nursing history and reports abnormalities to the registered nurse.
• Assists in identifying patient needs
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education:

• High School Graduate or Equivalent [Required]

Work Experience:

• 1+ applicable Patient Care Technician (PCT) experience [Preferred]
• Previous bedside patient care in an acute care unit, unit secretary, monitor technician, or equivalent medical experience [Preferred]

Licenses and Certifications:

• Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) [Required]
• Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) [Required] OR NHA Certified Patient Care Technician/Assistant (CPCT/A) [Required] OR NCCT Patient Care Technician (NCPCT) [Required] OR AMCA Patient Care Technician Certification (PCT-C) [Required] OR Emergency Medical Tech Cert (EMT)[Required]
