Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center is hiring a Patient Care Technician for a full-time night shift in Williamsburg, VA, to support the Medical Telemetry unit.

The role includes patient care, vital signs, mobility assistance, phlebotomy, EKG testing, and specimen collection, under the supervision of an RN. AHA BLS within 90 days is required, with one year of health care experience preferred.

Qualifications

• HS – High School Grad or Equivalent.
• One of the following programs: Sentara Care Partner Certification Program, CNA/NCMA/NCPCT, Navy Hospital Corps School, EMR/EMS/EMT/AEMT, RN/LPN/RT/PT clinical experience within last 3 years.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care and assist with daily living activities.
• Monitor vital signs, mobility, ambulation, and safety.
• Perform phlebotomy, point-of-care testing, EKGs, and IV removal.
• Collect specimens and document changes accurately for the RN and medical staff.

Overview

Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center is hiring a Patient Care Technician (PCT) for a Full Time, night shift in Williamsburg, VA! This role will be supporting the Medical Telemetry unit.

The Patient Care Technician provides patient care, supports independent and dependent activities of daily living, vital signs, mobility and ambulation, phlebotomy, point of care testing, EKG testing, peripheral IV removal, specimen collection, and foley catheter insertion and removal, and complies with patient safety practices under the direction of the professional RN nurse. Observe patients' physical, mental, and emotional conditions and document in a timely and accurate manner while reporting any changes to the nurse or medical staff.

Education

• HS – High School Grad or Equivalent
• One of the following programs: Sentara Care Partner Certification Program, successful completion of the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA), National Patient Care Technician (NCPCT), completion of US Navy Hospital Corps School, Emergency Services to include EMR, EMS, EMT, AEMT and Paramedic, or current student enrolled in a clinical program having completed at least one semester of a (RN, LPN, RT or PT) or current work experience within last three years as a PCT or Nursing Assistant.

Certifications / Licensure

• AHA BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
