General Summary

Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and following the Nursing Care Plan, performs delegated patient care functions and applies technical skills of a limited, uncomplicated nature. The role requires access to medication storage areas.

Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED). State Nursing Assistant Certification is required, along with completion of one of the following training programs: hospital-based program, community college, Emergency Medical Technician, Medical Corpsmen, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of one year of recent, direct patient care experience in an acute care setting or equivalent.
  • Current CPR certification required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to use universal safety precautions and respond appropriately in emergencies.
  • Knowledge and skills necessary to provide care suitable for the patient population(s) served, including understanding growth and development principles over the lifespan, and assessing data relevant to patient needs.
  • Effective verbal communication and interpersonal skills with patients, visitors, and healthcare team members to foster quality care.
  • Ensure patient safety in all job functions and participate in safety initiatives.
  • Take action to address observed safety risks.
  • Report adverse events and near misses to management.
  • Identify potential risks in processes, procedures, or devices and communicate them to supervisors.
