Ardent Health Services in Topeka, KS is seeking a day shift, full-time Medical Surgical Patient Care Technician (PCT). The role supports licensed nurses in delivering safe patient care, performs delegated tasks, and assists with ADLs and vital sign monitoring.

Requirements include a high school diploma, CNA/PCT certification, and active Kansas certification with BLS within 14 days of hire. Preferred: 3+ years in acute/long-term care and Med-Surg/ER experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Completion of an approved CNA/PCT certification program or current student in a program with <1 semester left or 6 months of related experience.
• Must maintain active Kansas certification.
• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire.

Responsabilités

• Collaborate with licensed nurses to support safe, compassionate patient care.
• Under supervision of a licensed nurse, perform delegated tasks and demonstrate advanced skills in age-specific care.
• Record data per policy and report patient observations/concerns.
• Assist with clinical and non-clinical duties as assigned.
• Obtain vital signs and support ADLs such as bathing, dressing, and feeding.
• Collect lab specimens and support patient monitoring.
• Complete unit-based competencies and skill validations as required.

Responsibilities

• The Patient Care Technician collaborates with licensed nurses to support the safe and compassionate delivery of patient care in a healing environment.
• Under the supervision of a licensed nurse, the PCT performs delegated tasks and demonstrates advanced skills in providing care to age-specific patient populations.
• Responsibilities include recording data in accordance with policy, reporting patient observations and concerns, and assisting with both clinical and non-clinical duties.
• Key tasks involve obtaining vital signs, assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, and feeding, collecting lab specimens, and supporting patient monitoring.
• In addition to proficiency in general areas of practice, the PCT completes advanced unit-based competencies and skill validations, enabling them to perform their job functions as assigned.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of approved CNA/PCT certification program or enrolled as a student with less than one semester left in an approved certification program or 6 months of previous experience in a specialty tech position.
  • For emergency room departments, an EMT Basic certification may substitute for CNA/PCT certification; paramedic license may fulfill certification requirements.
• Must maintain active certification in the State of Kansas.
• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.

Preferred Job Requirements:

• 3+ years of experience in acute or long-term care settings.
• Experience in Med-Surg Nursing or Emergency Room (ER) departments.
