Learn About a Day in the Life of a PCT:

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, eating, and other ADLs.
• Observe patients’ progress and prepare reports for medical staff.
• Obtain and record vital signs and collect specimens for lab tests.
• Provide basic patient transport and perform housekeeping duties.
• Measure and record patients' intake/output, assist with range of motion, and draw blood.
• Assist with treatments such as feeding tube and catheter administration, suture/staple removal, splinting, and perform ECGs as ordered.
• Coordinate daily unit activities, provide clerical support, and participate in performance improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of approved CNA or PCT certification, or in the final semester of nursing school.
• Active certification in Texas.
• BLS certification within 30 days of hire.

Preferred Job Requirements:

• 5 years of experience in acute or long-term care.
