Bon Secours is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) to provide basic health care and support under the guidance of a Registered Nurse or designated healthcare professional. The role includes sanitizing rooms, monitoring vital signs, and assisting with feeding and grooming.

The position requires at least 1 year of clinical experience; BLS is preferred and must be obtained prior to direct patient care. EPIC EHR training is a plus; benefits include comprehensive medical, dental, and vision

Responsibilities

• Provide basic patient care including care and comfort, vital sign measurement, personal care and hygiene, and assistance with mobility.
• Act as liaison between patient and nurse to report changes and/or concerns.
• Provide high-level customer service to all patients, patients’ family, visitors, and employees.
• Provide accurate, precise, timely documentation when applicable for patient care.
• Participate in hand-off/report of pertinent information regarding patient and departmental needs upon arrival and when leaving.
• Perform delegated tasks once competency has been validated.
• Mobilize patients using therapeutic transfer techniques that foster independence and safety.
• Foster independence by encouraging patients to complete tasks as independently as possible.
• Individualize care based on patients’ interests and hobbies.

Job Summary

A Patient Care Technician (PCT) provides basic health care and support to patients under the guidance of the Registered Nurse or designated healthcare professional. The PCT sanitizes and cleans patients’ rooms, monitors patients’ health and vital signs, and assists with basic needs such as feeding and grooming.

Essential Job Functions

• Provide basic patient care including care and comfort, vital sign measurement, personal care and hygiene, and assistance with mobility, including unit-based specialty duties.
• Act as liaison between patient and nurse to report changes and/or concerns.
• Provide high-level customer service to all patients, patients’ family, visitors, and employees.
• Provide accurate, precise, timely documentation when applicable for patient care.
• Participate in hand‑off/report of pertinent information regarding patient and departmental needs upon arrival and when leaving.
• Perform delegated tasks once competency has been validated.
• Mobilize patients using therapeutic transfer techniques that foster independence and safety.
• Foster independence by encouraging patients to complete tasks as independently as possible.
• Individualize care based on patients’ interests and hobbies.

Education

None required.

Licensure / Certification

• BLS Basic Life Support (preferred upon hire; must be obtained from an approved source prior to direct patient care).
• One year of relevant experience in a clinical setting (required).
• Successful completion of a nursing aide training program (alternatives: passing STNA State Tested Nurse Aide if OH LTC, CNA Certified Nurse Aide, nurses aide state testing, or completion of a nursing program that had one clinical nursing course and one clinical rotation).
• Recent experience in acute care, physician’s office, home health/hospice, or long‑term care facility (preferred).

Experience

1year of relevant clinical experience is required; additional experience in acute care, physician’s office, home health/hospice, or long‑term care is preferred.

Skills & Abilities

Training

EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR) training (preferred).
