Job summary

Bon Secours is seeking a Patient Care Technician to support nurses in the St. Francis Downtown unit. The role provides basic patient care, monitors vital signs, assists with feeding, hygiene, and mobility, and documents care in EPIC EHR.

The ideal candidate has current BLS, completion of a nursing aide program or CNA certification, and prior acute care or long-term care experience. Night shifts with a 36-hour week and competitive benefits are offered.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Provide basic patient care including vital signs, hygiene, mobility support.

Job Summary

A Patient Care Technician (PCT) provides basic health care and support to patients under the guidance of a Registered Nurse or designated healthcare professional. The PCT sanitizes and cleans patients’ rooms, monitors patients’ health and vital signs, and assists patients with basic needs such as feeding and grooming.

Essential Job Functions

• Provide basic patient care including care and comfort, vital sign measurement, personal care and hygiene, and assistance with mobility.
• Act as a liaison between the patient and nurse to report changes and concerns.
• Deliver high‑level customer service to patients, families, visitors, and employees.
• Document patient care accurately, precisely, and in a timely manner.
• Participate in hand‑off and reporting of pertinent information regarding patient and departmental needs upon arrival and departure.
• Perform delegated tasks once competency has been validated.
• Mobilize patients using therapeutic transfer techniques that promote independence and safety.
• Encourage patients to complete tasks independently and individualize care based on patient interests and hobbies.

Licensure / Certification

• BLS Basic Life Support (preferred upon hire; must be obtained from an approved source prior to direct patient care).
• Successful completion of one of the following:
  • Registered nursing aide training program
  • Successful passing of STNA State Tested Nurse Aide (required if OH LTC)
  • CNA Certified Nurse Aide
  • State‑testing or completion of a nursing program that included one clinical nursing course and one clinical rotation
  • One year of relevant experience in a clinical setting

Experience

• Recent experience in acute care, physician’s office, home health/hospice, or long‑term care facility (preferred but not required).

Skills & Abilities

• Problem‑solving skills with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Professional engagement with staff and patients.
• Proactivity in a rapidly changing environment.

Training

• EPIC Electronic Health Record (EHR) training (preferred).
