**Patient Care Tech (PCT)**

**Department:** Emergency
**Work hours:** 36 hours, Full-Time, Days (7 am - 7 pm)

**Here’s What You Need:**
· H.S. Diploma or Equivalent **_Required_**.
· CLIAFE compliance with CLIA regulations regarding foreign education equivalency **_Required_**.
· PCT Training Program (TX CNA, NHA, NAHP, NCCT, accredited community college program, or THR approved program). Certification not required to be maintained after hire if not applicable. Must be obtained upon hire **_Required_** or
· EMT - Emergency Medical Technician or military experience with equivalent medical training (equivalent to EMT-B). Must be obtained upon hire **_Required_** or
· Nursing student who has completed fundamentals or foreign nurse degree program. Must be obtained upon hire **_Required_** or
· One year of applicable experience in lieu of active certification. Must be obtained upon hire **_Required_** and
· BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support, completed prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly **_Required_**.
· CPI - Crisis Prevention Intervention Training, maintained annually. Must be completed within 90 days of hire **_Required_**.
· Organizational skills for fast-paced environments, positive interpersonal skills, and good communication skills are essential.
· Nursing students not completing nursing coursework but having Fundamentals Training, and EMTs not retaining EMT status, may continue if they demonstrate skills in their PCT role.
**What You Will Do:**
· Assist patients according to their care plan.
· Collect patient data, identify, and report significant findings to nurses.
· Assist with admission, transfer, and discharge processes.
· Support activities of daily living based on patient and family preferences.
· Perform technical procedures safely and proficiently.
· Take actions to reduce or eliminate patient risks.
· Enter orders into systems as applicable.
· Document accurately and appropriately.
· Collaborate with nurses to adapt care to patient populations, incorporating cultural and religious needs.
· Maintain a clean and safe environment.
· Anticipate and meet patient, family, and visitor needs, rounding as appropriate.
· Use the Professional Practice Model to partner with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
· Demonstrate flexibility to schedule and workload changes.
· Welcome and assist new team members during orientation.
· Communicate effectively with all stakeholders.
· Organize workload and collaborate with nursing to prioritize care.
· Maintain and enhance patient care skills.
· Seek assistance for unfamiliar tasks.
· Act as a patient advocate.
· Comply with personnel policies and department expectations.
· Report ethical and legal concerns promptly.
· Contribute to process improvement initiatives.
· Adhere to National Patient Safety Goals.
