Job Summary

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) serves as a caregiver to patients during scheduled work hours, providing patient-centered nursing care and daily living assistance under supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). Responsibilities include recording vital signs, administering basic health care, assisting with daily activities, cleaning, specimen collection, preparing treatment areas, and clerical duties related to scheduling and documentation. Strong communication, customer service, multi-tasking, and organizational skills are essential. When necessary, provides one-on-one care to patients for safety.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred, but not required.
• Knowledge of healthcare, anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and medical equipment preferred.
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) preferred; must obtain and maintain required competencies and certifications.
• In North Dakota, non-CNA employees must be on the Nurse Aide Registry within four months of employment.
