**Patient Care Tech (PCT)**

_Texas Health is looking for a skilled PCT. Is that you?_

**Work location:** Texas Health Fort Worth - 1301 Pennsylvania Ave, Fort Worth, TX 76104

**Department:** CCU4

**Work hours:** 24 hours, Part-Time, Days (7 am - 7 pm)

**Highlights:**

  • Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth is an 815-bed, Magnet-designated regional referral center serving Tarrant County and surrounding communities since 1930. Services include cardiovascular care, high-risk obstetrics, gynecology, orthopedics and sports medicine, neonatal intensive care, and trauma/emergency medicine. The hospital features a 75,000 sq ft Emergency Services Center, over 4,000 employees, 200 volunteers, and nearly 1,000 physicians. Recognized nationally for its oncology program and named “Best Place to Have a Baby” in Tarrant County. Certified as a Comprehensive Stroke Center and a Primary Heart Attack Center by The Joint Commission.

**Qualifications:**

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent Required
  • Must comply with CLIA regulations regarding foreign education equivalency Required
  • Completion of PCT Training Program (TX CNA, NHA, NAHP, NCCT, or THR approved). Not required to maintain certification after hire. Required upon hire
  • EMT or military experience with medical training equivalent (EMT-B). Required upon hire
  • Other nursing students who completed fundamentals or foreign nurse degree program. Required upon hire
  • One year of applicable experience in lieu of certification. Required upon hire
  • BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly Required
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) training maintained annually, within 90 days Required

Possess organizational skills, positive interpersonal skills, and good communication skills.

Nursing students not completing their nursing course but having completed Fundamentals Training, and EMTs not retaining formal EMT status but demonstrating skills, may continue in the role.

What You Will Do
  • Assist patients according to their care plan.
  • Collect patient data, identify and report significant findings to nurses.
  • Assist with admission, transfer, and discharge processes.
  • Support patient activities of daily living based on preferences.
  • Perform technical procedures safely and proficiently.
  • Reduce or eliminate patient risks.
  • Enter orders into systems as applicable.
  • Document accurately and appropriately.
  • Collaborate with nurses to adapt care to patient needs, including cultural and religious considerations.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment.
  • Anticipate and meet patient, family, and visitor needs.
  • Work in partnership with the healthcare team, demonstrating adaptability and flexibility.
  • Support new team members and participate in process improvement activities.
  • Adhere to safety and legal standards, including National Patient Safety Goals.
