Functions as part of the dialysis healthcare team to provide safe and effective dialysis therapy under supervision, in compliance with policies, procedures, and regulations. Responsible for setup and operation of hemodialysis machines, maintaining a safe environment, and supporting quality improvement activities.
Education: Assist healthcare team with patient-specific education regarding dialysis measures and disease process.
Treatment: Welcome patients, evaluate vascular access, perform cannulation, administer heparin, obtain vital signs, initiate and monitor dialysis, document treatment, and evaluate patient status before discharge.
Record Keeping: Document treatment data accurately, prepare patient charts, and collect lab specimens.
Infection Control: Support infection control practices, participate in audits, and educate patients and families.
Transitional Care Unit: Support new patients' transition, coordinate care, and assist with education and supply management.
Assist in training staff, follow policies, maintain a clean environment, and ensure proper documentation.
Includes lifting, standing, bending, and exposure to healthcare environment risks. Must pass color blindness test.
High School diploma or G.E.D., valid state licensure, and certification as required. Continued employment depends on completing dialysis training and CPR certification.
Preferred hospital or related healthcare experience.
