Responsibilities
- 0-25% Travel Requirement
- Take patient history and obtain vital signs
- Perform basic testing or screenings (vision, audio, urine drug screens, breath alcohol, EKGs, pulmonary function testing)
- Perform phlebotomy for laboratory samples
- Complete paperwork/computer work for lab tests
- Perform point of care testing (strep, mono, glucose, influenza, pregnancy tests, urinalysis)
- Ensure sterile technique, instrument sterilization, and autoclave use
- Schedule and coordinate records for ancillary care
- Assist providers with exams and testing
- Maintain confidentiality (HIPAA)
- Ensure equipment is operational
- Log laboratory procedures and process paperwork
- Maintain examination rooms and supplies
- Support efficient patient flow
- Handle registration, explain insurance, collect payments
- Assist providers during patient exams
- Document patient history, exams, and procedures
- Complete transcription tasks
- Perform duties to improve provider efficiency
- Greet and register patients
- Answer and triage calls
- Take payments
- Manage reports (printing, scanning, faxing)
- Other front desk and cleaning duties as assigned
Minimum Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Ability to troubleshoot equipment issues
- Follow written instructions and work practices
- Maintain effective relationships with staff, patients, families
- Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, move equipment, transfer patients
- Computer skills, including patient registration
- Up-to-date on injections and OSHA documentation
- CPR certification
- Good listening and note-taking skills
- Typing at least 45 words per minute
- Strong communication skills
- Detail-oriented and accurate
- Teamwork skills
- Friendly, customer service-oriented
- Ability to handle high call volume
- Physical capacity for lifting up to 50 pounds
