Job description

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

Supports FMCNA's mission, vision, core values, and customer service philosophy. Adheres to the FMCNA Compliance Program, including all regulatory and FMS policy requirements.

Works as part of the hemodialysis healthcare team to provide safe and effective dialysis therapy under the supervision of a licensed nurse, following FMCNA policies, procedures, training, and regulations set by relevant authorities. Responsible for setting up and operating hemodialysis machines, maintaining a safe and clean environment, and supporting quality improvement activities to meet FMCNA's goals.

DUTIES / ACTIVITIES:

CUSTOMER SERVICE:

• Drive the FMS culture through values and customer service standards.
• Provide outstanding service to all customers.
• Maintain effective communication and respond promptly to customer issues.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

PATIENT CARE:

• Assist in patient education about dialysis adequacy and disease management.
• Welcome patients, monitor their well-being, and report concerns.
• Evaluate vascular access, obtain vital signs, and perform necessary procedures during dialysis.
• Administer Heparin as delegated, initiate and terminate treatments, and document all relevant data.
• Monitor patient response, perform safety checks, and report any abnormal findings.

MAINTENANCE/TECHNICAL:

• Maintain a clean and safe environment, disinfect equipment, and prepare for treatments.
• Ensure all safety alarms are active and perform system checks.

CLERICAL & ADMINISTRATIVE:

• Participate in CQI activities, accurately document treatment data, and prepare patient charts and lab specimens.

OTHER:

• Perform additional duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:

Includes handling heavy equipment, prolonged standing, and travel between facilities. Work environment is typical of healthcare settings, with exposure to infectious materials. Reasonable accommodations are available for disabilities.

Employees must pass Ishihara's Color Blindness test; failure does not preclude employment if accommodations are possible.

Requires physical effort, including lifting up to 40 lbs and assisting with patient mobility, with support from aids and coworkers.

EDUCATION:

• CMS-approved certification or High School diploma/G.E.D. with certification within required timelines.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

• Preferred prior patient care experience; ongoing employment contingent on successful dialysis training and CPR certification.
