Job summary

Rochester General Hospital, part of Rochester Regional Health, seeks a Patient Care Technician to support the Golisano Rehab Center at Unity Hospital. The role provides direct or indirect patient care under a licensed nurse’s direction, ensuring quality, safety, and a positive patient experience.

Responsibilities include bedside care, vital signs, specimen handling, and helping with ambulation and daily activities.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 18.
• Associates degree required or strongly preferred.
• CNA certification or Nursing Fundamentals course or 1 year experience as MA/technician in a health-related facility preferred.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills are highly desired.

Responsibilities

• Performs cleaning of equipment, changes bed linens, stocks supplies in patient room or unit, and prepares rooms for admissions.
• Provides safe and competent care for patients including nutrition, skin integrity, elimination & hygiene needs, bathing, grooming, and comfort measures.
• Performs clinical duties under supervision of an RN, including vitals, pulse oximetry, EKG, and admission/discharge processes.
• Performs collection and disposition of certain specimens.
• Demonstrates excellent communication, compassion and professionalism.
• Assists with safe ambulation, transferring, and proper use of lift devices.
• Follows safety initiatives for the department and assists in post-mortem care as needed.
• Responds promptly to patient call lights and requests for assistance.
