The University of Rochester is seeking a part-time Patient Care Technician to assist in delivering basic and select specialized patient care under nurse supervision at the Rochester campus. The role supports well-being, comfort, and safety of patients through a range of interventions.

Responsibilities include venipuncture, EKGs, data collection, specimen handling, and assisting with daily unit operations in a hospital setting.

Qualifikationen

• High School Diploma required and two years of experience in health care delivery in roles such as Nursing Assistant; Home Health Aide; EMT; Medic/Corps Person; or two clinical semesters as a Nursing Student; or equivalent education/experience.

Aufgaben

• Participates in the delivery of patient care by performing basic and specialized physical and psychosocial interventions as defined by the Patient Care Technician Skill Inventory.
• Under direct supervision of a nurse, performs direct patient care affecting the well-being, comfort and safety of patients.
• Performs technical procedures and reports findings to the nursing staff, including venipuncture, EKGs, placing electrodes and telemetry readings.
• Collects patient data as defined by the Skill Inventory List and documents on the appropriate flow sheets.
• Collects specimens or sends to the laboratory per hospital policies.
• Attends to patients' environmental needs by organizing belongings and providing comfort as directed by the nurse.
• Participates in Quality Assurance activities as directed by nurse.
• Orients patient/family to unit and room, provides copies of Patients' Bill of Rights as directed by nurse.
• Performs other duties as assigned by nurse to support unit functioning and patient care delivery.
