General Summary of Position
MedStar Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician to join our team at Franklin Square Hospital. The ideal candidate will possess basic math knowledge, strong verbal and written communication skills, and basic computer skills.
As a Patient Care Technician, you will be part of the patient-centered care team, providing direct patient care activities under the supervision of a Registered Nurse for assigned patients and their families/significant others. Your duties include assisting medical and nursing staff with procedures and tests, helping patients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), and performing specific care activities such as specimen collection, phlebotomy, IV insertion, EKGs, and documentation.

Assist patients with ADLs and personal hygiene, including bathing, mouth care, dressing, skin care, positioning, feeding, ambulation, toileting, and range of motion activities.
Collect specimens, perform venipuncture/phlebotomy, obtain EKGs, apply telemetry monitoring, and insert/change IVs, including dressing changes and routine inspections.
Perform routine sterile and non-sterile treatments such as tube feedings, ostomy care, Foley catheter care, wound care, turning, positioning, postmortem care, and maintaining oxygen and traction equipment.
Maintain patient comfort, privacy, confidentiality, and dignity. Observe patients, respond to questions, and report changes in condition. Assist with patient examinations and procedures.
Ensure cleanliness and safety of patient rooms, assist with environmental services, and manage supplies. Transport patients and complete errands as needed.
This position offers a hiring range of $19.17 - $33.08 per hour.
