Job Description

This position involves providing assistance with patient care activities and unit tasks under the supervision of licensed staff and the manager. The role includes:

  1. Providing physical care to patients and performing technical skills such as point of care testing.
  2. Implementing nursing orders accurately and understanding their purposes.
  3. Following policies for patient care activities and equipment use.
  4. Ensuring patient comfort and safety through positioning, bathing, linens, and personal articles.
  5. Monitoring safety measures like side rails, restraints, alarms, and hourly rounding.
  6. Documenting all relevant data into the computer system.
  7. Communicating patient observations to the healthcare team.
  8. Providing age-appropriate care, demonstrating knowledge of growth and development.
  9. Reporting changes in patient condition or behavior promptly.
  10. Prioritizing patient care activities effectively and exercising good judgment.
  11. Collaborating with healthcare team members, patients, and families.
  12. Maintaining a safe, clean, and stocked work environment.
  13. Serving as a Safety Attendant/Patient Sitter when required, ensuring patient safety.
  14. Attending staff meetings and reviewing meeting minutes.
  15. Maintaining Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  16. Fulfilling all compliance responsibilities and performing additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent required. Experience in a hospital setting is preferred but not mandatory. Active CNA certification is preferred. BLS/CPR certification must be obtained within 90 days of employment or upon completing orientation.

Working Conditions

Physical effort is very heavy; may exert up to 50 lbs. of force. Work environment may include exposure to dirt, odors, noise, and human waste.
