Position Summary

Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or LPN, assists with patients' activities of daily living and supports their plan of care. Communicates effectively with the healthcare team, patients, and families, maintaining high standards of professional ethics.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with bathing, dressing, grooming, oral care, feeding, toileting, hygiene, mobility, and transportation.
  • Follow standard precautions, including care for patients in isolation.
  • Perform technical duties such as vital signs, point of care testing, bladder scanning, and Foley catheter care, documenting appropriately. May perform phlebotomy and EKGs if certified.
  • Identify and communicate changes in patient status to RN/LPN and respond accordingly.
  • Reinforce patient and family education regarding care and safety.
  • Participate in patient satisfaction initiatives and performance improvement activities.
  • Assist in the orientation of new hires.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Knowledge of basic patient care skills, procedures, and standards.
  • Strong communication skills.
Education and Certifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Completion of a PCT course, fundamentals nursing course in an RN program, CNA program, or equivalent of 1 year of direct patient care experience.
  • BLS certification required.
  • Phlebotomy training/education required for Emergency Department positions.

Ongoing education and competency maintenance are expected to enhance skills and ensure regulatory compliance.
