General Summary

Under the direction of professional nursing staff, provides direct patient care including taking vital signs, checking surgical dressings, assisting with activities of daily living, performing blood draws, and collecting specimens. Observes and communicates patient status to identify needs and collaborates as part of the interdisciplinary care team.

Responsibilities

• Perform testing and manage patient care based on results and clinical findings.
• Document patient activities, vital signs, and care details accurately.
• Assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.
• Participate in strategies to optimize outcomes and promote safety.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment, including patient rooms and supplies.
• Provide wound care, specimen collection, and orthopedic device care.
• Respond to alarms and participate in hourly rounding.
• Follow safety protocols, including fall prevention and reporting adverse events.
• Utilize proper body mechanics and safe lifting techniques.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current Maryland CNA or GNA certification.
• Current BLS certification.
