Job description

Patient Care Technician: Full Time 7:30pm-8am (Nights), three 12-hr shifts, including an every other weekend requirement.

Pay Range: $17.40 - $27.84/hr (Actual offer rates are based upon the applicant’s relevant job experience and the requirements of the position)

We are seeking a Full-time Patient Care Technician in General Med/Surg to join our team of professionals committed to excellence. If you want to make a difference daily, consider this opportunity.

The Patient Care Technician performs direct patient care activities as outlined by the District of Columbia Board of Nursing, assisting medical and nursing staff with procedures, tests, and patient activities such as ADLs, specimen collection, blood draws, and EKGs.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Under RN supervision, performs technical duties including inserting/discontinuing IVs, EKGs, and implementing patient care plans.
  • Assists with personal hygiene, mobility, treatments, and monitoring oxygen equipment.
  • Provides hourly rounds, responds promptly to patient needs, and assists with ambulation and range of motion exercises.
  • Observes, documents, and monitors vital signs; records intake and output.
  • Practices infection control and maintains a clean environment.
  • Collects specimens, performs phlebotomy, and assists with patient repositioning.
  • Gathers basic patient information and reports changes in condition.
  • Runs errands, sets up equipment, and assumes other related duties.

Qualified Candidates will Possess:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Completion of approved healthcare training (e.g., CNA, PCT), preferred
  • Successful completion of a Fundamentals of Nursing course and clinical, or equivalent credentials
  • Phlebotomy course completion, preferred
  • Six months of PCT experience or equivalent healthcare work hours within the last 36 months
