Third (Nights)Overview:
The Patient Care Technician provides patient care and supports activities of daily living, including vital signs, mobility, phlebotomy, point of care testing, EKG testing, peripheral IV removal, specimen collection, and Foley catheter insertion and removal. They comply with patient safety practices under the supervision of a registered nurse. The role involves observing patients' physical, mental, and emotional conditions, documenting accurately, and reporting changes to medical staff. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required within 90 days of hire.
Qualifications:
Acceptable educational programs include: Sentara Care Partner Certification Program, CNA, NCMA, NCPCT, US Navy Hospital Corps School, Emergency Services (EMR, EMS, EMT, AEMT, Paramedic), or current enrollment in a clinical program (RN, LPN, RT, PT). Candidates with recent work experience as a PCT or Nursing Assistant within the last three years are also eligible. For Safety Partners, de-escalation and physical intervention training must be completed within 30 days of hire, or within 15 days for Behavioral Health roles.
