Hourly Pay Range:

$18.84 - $27.32 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.

  • Full Time/Part Time: Full Time, Night shift (11pm-7:30am) with Rotating Weekends
  • Hours: 32
  • Required Travel: N/A

Job Summary

The Patient Care Tech, under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practicing Nurse (LPN), performs patient care tasks and procedures to ensure the care, comfort, and safety of patients. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care to patients on the assigned unit.

Responsibilities and Essential Functions

  1. Patient & Visitor Interactions / Customer Service / Hourly Rounding: Interact with patients and visitors, answer call lights and phones, assist visitors, and perform purposeful hourly rounds.
  2. Patient Safe Handling / Ambulation / Repositioning: Learn and apply patient safe handling skills to assist with ambulation and transfers, using appropriate equipment.
  3. Basic Nursing Care - ADLs: Assist with personal care needs such as bathing, grooming, oral care, feeding, bedpan or urinal use, positioning, and responding to call lights, under RN/LPN supervision.
  4. Admission/Discharge/Transfers: Support room setup, patient orientation, discharges, transfers, and transportation, ensuring patient safety and providing updates.
  5. Procedures and Treatments: Complete and document care activities like vital signs, weights, intake & output, and perform procedures such as ECGs and wound care under supervision.
  6. Care Companion/Sitter/Observer: Remain with patients as needed for safety, per RN or LPN request.
  7. Department Specific Tasks: Support nursing staff with indirect activities like restocking, cleaning, and record-keeping.

Minimum Requirements

Education: Eligible to work in the US; CNA training preferred; at least one nursing clinical rotation preferred.

Licensure: Current BLS certification for Healthcare Providers; certification must be obtained within 90 days if not current.

Experience: No experience required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Excellent interpersonal skills, teamwork, prioritization, concern for patient welfare, and adherence to safety protocols.

Working Conditions: Must handle normal mental, visual, auditory attention; potential exposure to blood and hazardous materials; ability to work under pressure.

Physical Demands: Assist with patient lifting and transfers, wear PPE, and perform physical activities like standing, walking, bending, and lifting.

Technical Skills: Basic computer skills required.
