Job summary

Sentara Health in Harrisonburg, VA is seeking a Patient Care Technician for the third (night) shift. You will assist with vitals, daily care, and blood draws under nurse supervision, supporting admissions and discharges.

Previous direct care experience is preferred. The role includes a market-competitive base pay and comprehensive benefits as part of Sentara's care team, with opportunities for additional compensation based on qualifications and shift differentials.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent or higher.
• Eligible for Sentara Care Partner Certification or CNA/NCMA/NCPCT credentials.
• EMR/EMS/EMT/AEMT or Paramedic credentials considered.
• Clinical training with RN/LPN/RT/PT background or PCT experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Take vitals and assist with daily patient care under nurse supervision.
• Support admission and discharge processes and patient comfort needs.
• Perform blood draws and Foley catheter care as directed.
• Assist with bathing, ambulation, and basic nursing tasks in a team setting.

Overview:

As a Patient Care Technician with Sentara Health, you will have the opportunity to learn many new skills. From taking vitals to blood draws and daily care. The primary duties of this position include supporting the admission/discharge process, changing, bathing ambulating patients, drawing blood, foley catheter care, meeting patient needs while working under the direct supervision of a nurse. You will find that teamwork is exceptional, with everyone working together to provide the best care for our patients.

Education

High School diploma or equivalent

Certification/Licensure

Must have one or more of the following:

• Graduate of Sentara Care Partner Certification Program
• Successful completion of the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
• National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA)
• National Patient Care Technician (NCPCT)
• Completion of US Navy Hospital Corps School
• Emergency Services to include EMR, EMS, EMT, AEMT and Paramedic
• Current student enrolled in a clinical program having completed at least one semester of a (RN, LPN, RT or PT) or current work experience within last three years as a PCT or Nursing Assistant.

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, and benefits. The base pay range for full-time employment is $18.93 - $27.41 hourly. Additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, on-call pay, overtime, shift premiums, extra-shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
