Patient Care Technician - Med/Surg Telemetry - FT - Nights

Position Purpose

The patient care technician is responsible for assisting patients with activities of daily living, performing technical skills, and maintaining a safe and clean environment under the supervision of the Registered Nurse/Clinical Coordinator in charge of the patient care unit. The individual must demonstrate the ability to deliver care reflecting the patient’s age-specific needs and adhere to departmental policies and procedures.

Role Specific Competencies
  • Provide quality care for age-specific populations, including pediatric and geriatric patients.
  • Document all patient care information accurately.
  • Perform measurements such as temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, intake and output, and record them properly.
  • Ensure patient comfort and safety, including proper bed positioning and safety during transport.
  • Follow infection control protocols and safety guidelines.
  • Identify patients correctly using name bands for all procedures and treatments.
  • Assist with patient care tasks as delegated, including specimen collection, EKG procedures, and patient transfers.
  • Participate in shift report and communicate patient status changes promptly.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of patient areas and equipment.
  • Support unit activities and participate in performance improvement efforts.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Current CNA certification in Maryland.
  • Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider CPR/BLS certification.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Hospital experience preferred.
Physical Requirements
  • Majority of work involves pushing, pulling, bending, walking, and lifting over 50 pounds.
  • Ability to hear normal sounds and differentiate colors on screens.
